Oshi Palav-Sr.2-Jan.20

Tajikistan is a small, mountainous country in Central Asia with a population of just under nine million. For Tajiks, Oshi Pelave (pilaf) is more than just a traditional dish. It is a part of their cultural heritage and enjoyed at regular mealtimes, social gatherings, celebrations, and rituals. This so-called ‘King of meals’ is made of rice, vegetables, and meat with garlic and various spices to add color and flavor. It is prepared for and shared by many it is not only enjoyed by the people around the table but also others in the neighborhood, orphanage and nursing home. Because of this sharing nature, it also eases tensions and conflicts between the people who have different opinions or interests.
While today’s sharing economy shares things and places like bicycles, cars, and rooms, this Tajik’s sharing heritage offers opportunities to people to unite and enjoy the meal and time together. Indeed, Oshi Palav is for treat and generosity, not by greed or economy.

Nowadays, sharing economy, such as bike-sharing or ride-share, is getting popular.
What do you think sharing really means?

Writing Skill-Sr.2-Jan.20

Writing Skill: Supporting your main idea with examples.
Write examples to support the main idea and complete the paragraph.

TS   Many people do not have good cell phone manners, and they are impolite when they use their phones.

For example, some people make or take calls in a quite public place and talk loudly. It is quite annoying to hear someone talking loudly in a place where silence or only quiet conversations are taking place. Such people don’t seem to care about the others around them.

There are also people who call from a noisy place. They tend to talk too loudly because they can’t hear well. It is inconsiderate to the person who has to bear with the noises and loud voice of the caller. Convenience for one person may be annoyance for another.

Cell phone users tend to be inconsiderate to others than they usually are when they are on the phone.

CS  If cell phone users were more thoughtful of others, they might be politer/more polite.

Question: First Trip to Japan

For my new job, I will travel to Japan next month and meet my Japanese boss. This will be my first trip to Japan. I’m worried about correct business etiquette and manners. My boss invited me to her home for dinner.
Do you have any advice?
